This week we bought supplies and ran the event. For the supplies we bought 2 packs of water balloons, two watermelons, crackers, and humus the total came up to $19.75. we also run the event this week. the event didn't really go as planned and there was a lot of confusion at the begin. The event started to go more smoothly as we began to play the game bang to introduces ourselves. After the game, we had a bit of difficultly gathering everybody's attention. Eventually we did that and explained the 5 different stations and the rules for each of them. The 5 stations were basketball, badminton, tennis, volleyball and soccer. We split them up into 4 different stations for them to do the activities. The activities went pretty well. After they completed 4 station we gave them some time to eat our snacks and get a bit of rest before we started soccer. For the soccer station we played one big game of soccer with all the teams involved. That station ran smoothly. We need to work on getting attention from a crowd and sticking to a plan. In a way the event was successful because everybody seemed to enjoyed it.
During this week we focused on our stations. We tried to look for the supplies we needed, as well as the time it would take to set up and how long it would take the participants to actually complete the station. We asked many people if they had some of the stuff that we needed, but most of the stuff we had already at our houses as well as at Cedar Cottage so it wasn't a difficult challenge to hurdle over. We also kept on asking people and we got some! We got more people to come and the number of people is getting closer to our expectations. We also tried to set up the badminton nets an the volleyball nets which was quite a problem since they were quite flimsy so we needed rebar to nail into the ground and we could tie the badminton net string to it to make it more stable. Which wasn't hard too. So was it a successful? Yes, in our opinion this was a successful week due to the productivity during the week.
week 3 reflectionThis week we tried to promote our event. It was not very successful because we only got 14 participates when we were aiming for 25. We also tried to put up posters but they didn't really work because nobody emailed me about the event. We gained a lot of experience from talking to people to promote our event.
This week we finalized the good copy of our grant, after that we applied. We also talked about the equipment we need and how much they would cost us and risk management involved in our event. We also finished the poster for our event and our poster in my opinion looked pretty decent. In general, we felt this was a successful week because it was really productive.
This week Joey and I finished the timeline of our event. We also looked over the details for the grant. We wrote some things as a rough draft for the grant, unfortunately the rough draft we made had a lot of unnecessary details that we didn't need. We are now in the process of making the details of our event clear so we can apply for the grant. Overall I did not feel like it was a successful week because the rough draft of the grant never got finished.
