1) Describe what was the motivation behind your initial proposed idea.
As most youth do, we wanted to find a job: and in order for us to find a job, we would need a resume. We thought that it would be a good idea to learn how to write one and help teach others how to write one at the same time. By teaching others about resume writing, we would help benefit other youth who need jobs and we could help develop our presentation skills and leadership skills at the same time.
2) What has made you change your mind about your project?
When we were on our second week of summer youth projects, a mobile game called Pokemon go was released and started to trend. Since everyone was all about Pokemon Go during those days, we thought that it would be great to make an event that could bring youth like us to go enjoy being outside and socialize with each other while playing a mobile game. We felt like having a Pokemon Go event could bring more people in our community together just as much as a resume writing workshop would, and could give youth a fun summer activity to enjoy.
3) What drove your motivations for the second summer youth project idea?
Pokemon Go is a game that can potentially bring many people together. At the same time, we both really enjoy this game and we could help new players enjoy it as much as we do. This event could help participants meet new people and nobody would be left out.
4) What has been challenging to your group to be able to do a successful youth project overall?
Finding participants that played Pokemon go and had phones wasn't easy. Having motivation to complete our project was challenging for us and communication between my partner and I was a bit of a challenge because we were both busy during the start of summer youth projects
5) Explain what you would change if you had an opportunity to redo this project again.
If we had the opportunity to redo this project, we would’ve been better prepared and organized. One of the problems was that participants didn't listen to Amy because she was too quiet. We found out afterwards that we could've borrowed a microphone for her to speak into. Another problem was that we should've checked the park we were holding the event at to see if they had internet or not. If we could make a change, we would try and find more activities for our participants to do during our event.
